For the first time in history, these two blue-blood squads will face off in the tournament. It might be the biggest March Madness game in recent memory, and perhaps ever. This is a Duke team that seems destined to cap off Coach K’s farewell tour with a tournament win. They’ve handled some fairly stiff competition in Texas Tech and Arkansas, and simply put on paper are a better team from top to bottom than the Tar Heels. That doesn’t mean it’s going to be a cakewalk, but if Duke can execute its gameplan it should be able to clinch a spot in the tournament finals.
The weakest unit in this game is by far North Carolina’s defense, which is allowing a 235th ranked 71.1 points per game. Paolo Banchero for Duke is the player to watch in this game. The projected lottery pick in the NBA draft has been dominant in this tournament, and seems determined to cap off his College career with a tournament win for Coach K. North Carolina has had a great second half to the season, and should be able to put up a decent fight. These two programs know each other well, but it’s hard to bet against the narrative this year. It just seems like everything is going Duke’s way. I’ve got two bets in this game as well: the Over 151.0 and Duke -4.5.
