Sunday Night Baseball sees a classic NL Central matchup between the Cardinals and the Cubs. The Cardinals have been good, but are still searching for consistency in the starting rotation. Veteran Adam Wainwright has been decent with a 2.75 ERA and 1.19 WHIP, and he should be able to handle what is a fairly weak Chicago lineup. The thing about the Cubs is they have been scrappy this year. Anyone who has been betting on Cubs games knows this. They aren’t pushovers, but they aren’t good either. The difference for me in this game is that Chicago pitcher Justin Steele is a lefty.
The Cardinals as a team absolutely mash on lefty pitchers, particularly with heavy bats at the top of their lineup from Nolan Arenado and Paul Goldschmidt. St. Louis likely won’t have Tyler O’Neil back in the lineup for Sunday, but he is another right-handed power bat. Rookie Nolan Gorman has been awesome so far, and in general, the Cardinals just have the deeper lineup from top to bottom. I’m expecting a bit of a romp here, but I’ve been wrong against the Cubs before this season. Still, when you bet you bet on probabilities. Lay the runline -1.5 and moneyline with the Cardinals in what should be a blowout.
