In the second of a three-game series, Philadelphia will throw out its ace Aaron Nola to take on the NL Central leading Milwaukee Brewers. Milwaukee’s resurgence has been a surprise, although you can also attribute it to the rest of the division struggling so far. Indeed the only other real competition is St. Louis who has been battling injuries thus far. Milwaukee’s strength lies in its pitching staff, so when there is a pitcher that is struggling against a decent offense, I tend to jump on the other side. Adrian Houser has been lit up a couple of times as of late, although he still has a 3.51 ERA this season.
His 1.40 WHIP and 41:23 strikeout to walk ratio speaks volumes as to how he has performed. Compare this to Nola who has a sparkling 0.93 WHIP and a 79:10 strikeout to walk ratio. If Philly can get to Houser early, I don’t see Milwaukee coming back. I have no doubt the Brewers have a strong bullpen, but their bats leave something to be desired. I’m backing Nola and the Phillies in this game on Wednesday night.
