In what has ended up being a pretty chalky, blue-blood filled Final Four, the action kicks off with Villanova and Kansas in New Orleans on Saturday. The glaring issue with Villanova is of course, the loss of Justin Moore who was second on the team in scoring, averaging 14.8 points per game. The Wildcats simply do not have the depth to replace his scoring, which they will need against a Kansas squad that ranks 22nd in the nation in offensive efficiency and plays at a much faster pace than Villanova, especially without Moore. The Villanova bench is thin with no extra player averaging more than ten minutes per game this season.
The loss of Moore is going to be evident and Kansas needs to take advantage. Kansas really hasn’t been challenged so far in the tournament, and breezed by Miami Florida with a 26-point margin of victory on Sunday. Kansas is healthy, deep, and very fittingly a strong favorite in this matchup. This is the third time these two teams have squared off at the tournament, with Villanova holding a 2-1 advantage. It’s going to be tough for either team to get into an offensive flow as both squads play tight defense. Final Four games are historically played as fairly tight, low-scoring matchups. Remember, these are mostly teenagers playing on a national stage. For some this will be their last ever NCAA game. There are two bets I love in this game: the Under 133.0 and Kansas -4.5.
