An Eastern Conference showdown between two of the favorites to win it all, Giannis and the Bucks visit Kevin Durant and the Nets in Brooklyn on Wednesday night. Everything for Brooklyn changed when the State of New York lifted its COVID-19 restrictions for unvaccinated players, allowing star guard Kyrie Irving to suit up for home games. At this point in the season, you need to start looking at who needs this game the most. Brooklyn currently sits in eighth place in the East and is on the verge of having to play in the play-in tournament to even make the playoffs. The Bucks on the other hand sit tied for second in the East with the 76ers and Celtics, who are all one game behind the Miami Heat for the first seed.
With just a handful of games left in the season, the Brooklyn Nets are in desperation mode after spending most of the year as the odds on favorite at sportsbooks to win the NBA Championship. These two teams met in late February where Brooklyn eked out a victory. I expect a similar fate for this game as well. The Bucks have been coasting this year, and it has been evident in the fact that this team consistently gets out to big leads and then blows them in the second half. They are a team built for the playoffs. They could also be feeling some fatigue after winning it all last year. I think Brooklyn will be a small favorite in this one, and I am laying it with the Nets who will rise to the occasion in a game they desperately need to win.
