The Lakers have been a disaster this year. They currently sit ninth in the Western Conference, and won’t be getting Anthony Davis back for a couple more weeks. The addition of Russell Westbrook has been a challenge, and given the team’s struggles he has become a media scapegoat. The Phoenix Suns had an impressive win over Miami, and are the first team in the NBA to clinch a playoff spot. They’ve managed to stay strong without Chris Paul in the lineup and have rattled off a 7-3 record over their last ten games, with an incredible 28-7 record at home. On paper, this looks like a total blowout waiting to happen.
The Lakers really only have Lebron and Westbrook right now to carry their offense, and the team ranks 17th defensively compared to Phoenix which is second in the league. It’s not a very profitable endeavor to keep betting against Lebron James though. I expect this spread to hit near or into the double digits by tip off. Sure, Phoenix has Jae Crowder but I don’t see how he or the rest of the team can stop James. I don’t expect Phoenix to lose this game, but they are definitely not the same team without Chris Paul. If the Lakers want to make a run, it needs to start soon. I will be nervously taking the points with the Lakers in this one.
