Baylor Bears (10) vs Kansas State Wildcats +6.0

Baylor Bears Basketball

These two big 12 rivals will renew acquaintances just two weeks after they faced off in Waco, Texas. The score of that game? It was a 74-49 victory for the home team who finished as -13.0 point favorites. Not much has changed over that time, except for the fact that Baylor was demolished by the Kansas Jayhawks in their last game, by a score of 83-59. The Wildcats have started February off hot with back to back wins over Oklahoma State and TCU, but the Baylor Bears present a much stiffer challenge. Where this game gets tricky is Baylor’s motivation. It will be their third road game in four contests, with marquee matchups against Texas and Texas Tech on the horizon.

Baylor could sleepwalk through this game and simply not cover the spread. Kansas City does not have the size or interior ability to match up with Baylor, so will have to rely on outside shooting to take down the Bears. Make no mistake, Baylor should and will win the game. But I don’t like laying points as a road favorite in these sandwich games between strong opponents. Baylor will likely be looking ahead to their two in-state rivals, rather than a game against the Wildcats on the road. Baylor should take the moneyline easily, but I’m going to play the points with the home underdog in a game where they have the opportunity to catch Baylor sleeping.
