NBA Playoffs Game Three: 9:30 pm ET on Friday April 22, 2022
The line on this game tells us that there is a good chance Devin Booker might not be able to suit up. Even if he does, he likely won’t be at 100%. The Suns will need to figure out a way of stopping Brandon Ingram and CJ McCollum, who have turned into one of the more dynamic scoring duos in the league. Ingram went off for 37 points last game, while McCollum nearly hit a triple double. Mikal Bridges and Jae Crowder are great defenders, but neither has the length to put up much of a challenge to Ingram’s shots. Jonas Valanciunas hasn’t been as effective in this series from a scoring perspective, but he’s been great on the glass and has outdueled Deandre Ayton for the most part.
The Pelicans have been able to use their depth against Phoenix and Herbert Jones and Jaxson Hayes have been great additions to the starting rotation. As has Larry Nance who has acted the part as a versatile power forward with playoff experience. Jose Alvarado has been a spark plug of energy, and the youth of New Orleans is giving Phoenix all it can handle right now. A move back to New Orleans has the Pelicans hosting their first playoff game since 2018. It would be easy to take Phoenix here, but the injury to Booker casts some doubt over the offense, especially against a Pelicans team that is underrated defensively. I’m betting the Under 218.0 in what should be a low scoring affair.
