NBA Round One Game Two: 7:00 pm ET on Wednesday April 20, 2022
Coming off a last second win in Game 1, the Celtics will certainly want to put up a better effort, particularly on the defensive side of the ball. It doesn’t look like they will be getting center Robert Williams back just yet, although he has been spotted practicing with the team. Boston uncharacteristically blew a couple of big leads in Game 1 and the top ranked defensive unit from the regula reason will certainly like to avenge that. Most notably, Marcus Smart who was just named NBA Defensive Player of the Year, will want to prove he deserves the award after Kyrie Irving scored 39 points on him. Expect a much tighter game from Boston, who are lucky to be up 1-0 on Brooklyn.
The Nets did everything they possibly could against the top-ranked defense but could not come away with the win. There is an outside chance that Ben Simmons debuts on Wednesday, but chances are he suits up for one of the games in Brooklyn. The Nets will need more from Kevin Durant in Game 2, after he scored only 23 points on 9/24 from the field. The thing with Brooklyn is going to be how well their depth can hold up to Boston’s. The Nets need an extraordinary performance from both KD and Kyrie every game or they have no chance to win. I don’t expect this one to be as close, and expect Boston’s defense to be the difference. Lay the 3.5 with the Celtics in Game 2.
