NBA Round One: 6:30 pm ET on Sunday April 17, 2022
A massive spread for a playoff game but the Bulls really got the short-end of the stick by drawing the defending NBA Champions. Giannis will be absolutely motivated to win another ring, and in a year without Lebron James in the playoffs, everything is up for grabs. The handicap for this game is the same as every regular season game between these two teams: how can the Bulls stop Giannis? Milwaukee won the last game easily by a score of 127-106. While Giannis only had 18 points, Brook Lopez chipped in with 28, while the Greek Freak nearly recorded a triple double. The Bulls have zero rim protection against the likes of Giannis, Lopez, and Bobby Portis.
These three should drive the lane all night long against Chicago. On the other end, it will be up to Jrue Holiday to shut down either Derozan or Lavine, while Wesley Matthews and Middleton will be called upon to defend the other. The Bucks line up really well against Chicago, and everyone could tell that they were waiting for the playoffs to arrive. The Bulls will need to defend against the three-ball from Milwaukee, as the Bucks ranked 4th in the league this year in three-point field goals. On the other end, it’s really only Lavine or Coby White that can consistently hit three-pointers for Chicago. Ten points is a huge spread for the playoffs, so in what I believe will be a tentative and defensive start to the series, I will be betting the Under 229.5 on Sunday night.
