The Eastern Conference playoff picture is getting interesting, especially after Atlanta’s win over Brooklyn on Saturday. Atlanta now holds an edge over Brooklyn with the tie-breaker, and every win the Hawks notch makes a higher chance of eliminating the Nets from the playoffs altogether. It’s incredible to think that Brooklyn was the favorite to win the NBA Championship for most of the season, and are now in danger of missing the play-in round. Toronto has turned up their game as of late although has been fortunate to be facing a lot of weaker opponents. The Raptors sit fifth in the East, and are looking to lock up a playoff spot.
Playing in Toronto has been a key betting spot this year. The COVID-19 protocols are difficult for teams entering Canada, and unvaccinated players have not been able to play. It will be interesting to see if any key players are announced out at the last minute. Toronto entering the playoff picture is also going to be interesting for teams who have unvaccinated players as they may not be able to play in road games. Atlanta needs this game more than Toronto, and already handled the Raptors by a score of 127-100 back in late February at home. Keep an eye on the starting lineups, but I’m betting on Atlanta as a likely road underdog in this game as they try and put the pressure on Brooklyn in this final stretch of the season.
