One week after eliminating the Dallas Cowboys, the 49ers get to travel to Lambeau Field to take on Aaron Rodgers. Queue the narratives that Rodgers is still bitter about not being drafted by the 49ers, a team he is 0-3 against in the NFL playoffs. San Francisco left Dallas with a victory but also suffered some key injuries. As of now, it looks like Nick Bosa and Fred Warner will be able to suit up on the defensive side, while quarterback Jimmy Garopollo will be playing with a mild shoulder sprain. The key here, especially with Garopollo’s injury, is that the 49ers are going to run the ball all game long. Run with Mitchell, run with Deebo, and make quick, short passes on third down to sustain the drive. Anything to keep Rodgers off the field as much as possible. Expect the clock to run the entire time San Francisco has the ball, which should shorten the game by quite a bit. Finally, do not even be surprised if we see Trey Lance at the goal line given Garopollo’s injury. The rookie is more than capable of taking the ball in from a couple of yards out. Green Bay’s offense will get theirs, but the key here is for the 49ers to stay within the spread. If you like the 49ers, like I do, wait until kick off because I think this moves up to -6.0 with late Packers money bumping it up. Kickoff iff is Saturday, January 22 at 8:15 pm ET on FOX.
