Miami Leads the Series 3-2
This series heads back to the City of Brotherly Love where the Heat can finish off the Sixers with a win. Game 5 was a surprising blowout in Miami with the Heat winning 120-85 and holding Joel Embiid to just 17 points and James Harden to just 14 points. Miami had the convincing win even without starting point guard Kyle Lowry who is still nursing a hamstring injury. Backup point guard Gabe Vincent filled in admirably with a stat line of 15 points 5 rebounds and 2 assists in 27 minutes. The Heat were distributing the ball well on Tuesday with PJ Tucker and Jimmy Butler posting 7 and 6 assists respectively.
It's unclear if Lowry will be in the lineup on Thursday, but given that he is a Philadelphia native, he’ll likely do everything in his power to be active for the game. Can the Sixers win two straight against a surging Miami team? The Heat showed their depth on Tuesday, something Philly hasn’t been able to match in this series. If they win, it’s on a big game from Harden and Embiid, but if the big two can’t get going then Miami’s bench smothers the Philadelphia second unit. Embiid needs to prove why he thinks he should have been the league MVP this year, and even though he is battered and bruised, the Sixers need him to come up with a season-saving win or risk criticism for its mid-season trade for Harden. Give me the Sixers to turn it up at home and force a Game 7 back in Miami.
