A major Big 12 rivalry matchup takes place in Lubbock, Texas on Wednesday, when the Baylor Bears visit the Red Raiders for the second time in just over a month. Texas Tech took the first meeting between these two teams by a score of 65-62. Baylor bounced back from the beatdown it received at the hands of the conference leading Jayhawks, with wins over Kansas State and Texas in convincing fashion. The Red Raiders rebounded from their disappointing loss to Oklahoma with an 82-69 victory over the visiting TCU. A couple of key injuries will take center stage, as Baylor will be without Cameroonian star Jonathan Tchamwa Tchatchoua who is out for the year with a left knee injury.
Meanwhile, Texas Tech will likely be without guard Kevin McCullar who suffered a high ankle sprain. The Bears will be short on the glass this game, and will be relying on Flo Thamba to fill the void that Tchamwa Tchatchoua’s injury leaves in Baylor’s front court. Another player that will likely step up into some playing time is forward Jeremy Sochan, who fouled out of last game, but did play more minutes as a big when Thamba rested. For Texas Tech, if they can dominate the boards and continue to get scoring from their wing players, they should be able to take this game. A win will also help secure second place in the Big 12 conference for Texas Tech, something the team will be aiming for to avoid playing Kansas before the Big 12 Conference finals. Lay the points with the Red Raiders.
