NCAA College Football Championship: Sunday 1/10/2020 • 8pm ET

Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis

The NCAA college football playoff is set. There will be 44 bowl games this year, thats including the playoffs, culminating with the championship game on January 10th. The first round of the playoffs will take place on New Year's Eve. Game 1 has #4 Cincinnati vs. #1 Alabama, in the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic. Game 2 features #2 Michigan vs. #3 Georgia in the Capital One Orange Bowl. Georgia, who was ranked #1 all season long, suffered their first loss of the season to Alabama last week. Both teams still made the playoffs, but the final rankings got shook up a bit. Could these two teams meet in the championship for a rematch on January 10th?

The final game will be played at Lucas Oil Stadium, Indiana- home of the NFL's Colts. Since 2015, the #1 team had not won the championship game until two years ago, and then again last year when LSU and Alabama won respectively. Alabama was clearly the best team last year all season long, but they had a bit of a fallout this year. They barely hung on against Auburn a few weeks ago, needing 4 overtimes to win 24-22. They had their one loss against Texas A & M, but did beat a handful of ranked teams. A loss to Auburn or even against Georgia last week, and Notre Dame would likely have made the playoffs, instead the Irish will be playing in the Fiesta Bowl vs. Oklahoma State. Notre Dame will be coached by Marcus Freeman now that their ex-head coach Brial Kelly left for LSU. As it stands now, Alabama is favored slightly at +120 followed by Georgia at +140 (that is who my money is on), Michigan is +600 which isn't a bad bet, and then Cincinnati at +1800.
