I never would have guessed before the season started that the Chiefs would be one game back of the Raiders for first place in the AFC West division? The Chiefs offense comes in limping though, having barely beat a Green Bay Packers team led by Jordan Love in his first ever start. Patrick Mahomes already has ten interceptions this year, and they are set to take on a division rival that has given them problems the last few years. So this is an easy spot to back the Raiders at home in prime time right? Not so fast. Another week, another personnel issue with the Raiders as former first round draft pick Damon Arnette after troubling videos surfaced of him threatening someone with firearms. After the incidents surrounding ex-head coach Jon Gruden and former Raider wide receiver Henry Ruggs, how much more can this locker room handle? The Chiefs have been exposed on defense, particularly against the run, but they get to face a Raiders offense that ranks 27th in rushing yards per game, and 18th in third down success rate. The weirdest stat of this game? So far the Chiefs are 1-4 against AFC opponents and the Raiders are 4-1. In my opinion, this is a buy-low spot on Kansas City. It hasn’t been in typical Kansas City fashion, but the Chiefs have managed to claw back into the AFC playoff picture, and a win against the Raiders and a loss for the Chargers could catapult the Chiefs back into first place in the division. Give me the Chiefs laying 3.0 points in Sin City.
